Scallop of the Sea Pattern Giveaway Winner!

Scallop of the Sea by Katie Canavan

October has been one heck of a month. It seems like one or more of our household has had a cold or flu every week. On the plus side, I had a fun trunk show over at Pearl Fiber Arts in downtown Portland. It was so great to meet Bumblebirch fans and find out what people like to knit. Many beautiful skeins went home with loving knitters to become shawls, socks, and special gifts.

Anyway, it has been busier than busy around here. So, thanks for your patience, fiber lovers, and on to the pattern winner! And the winner is...

Congratulations Tammy! I will contact you shortly with a PDF copy of the Scallop of the Sea Pattern from Holla Knits. Happy stitching!

Holla Knits Giveaway

Today is a very special day: not only do you get to ogle the lovely new patterns from Holla Knits Accessories 2012 collection, but you also have a chance to win a free pattern! Check out these cute, wearable accessories:

Snowball Bonnet by Anna Elliott
Black Swan by Tara Shade

One of the things I love about this collection is that each pattern is shown knitted up in inexpensive yarns, such as KnitPicks, as well as specialty yarns from independent dyers. Even though I dye my own yarn, I definitely love KnitPicks and Cascade for some projects. So no matter what you've got in your stash, these accessories can work for you.

Knight Service by Teresa Gregorio
Multiplicity by Allyson Dykhuizen
Wallpaper Cowl by Emma Welford
Each design has sweet details that really make it unique: fun texture, a pop of graphic color, or smart reinforcing. You can read more about the patterns and designers here at Holla Knits.

Giveaway time!

One lucky knitter will receive a free copy of the Scallop of the Sea pattern by Katie Canavan. Here you can see it knit up in four colors of KnitPicks Stroll Sport as well as two colors of my very own Bumblebirch Blossom, a sport weight merino-alpaca blend.

Bumblebirch Shop is Open

Great news! The Bumblebirch Shop is once again open! In addition to bright, fun stitch markers, you will also find an outlet for yarn not sold in shops here in Portland. Want to be the first person to snag the new sportweight merino/alpaca yarn?

And coming soon, available only through the Bumblebirch Shop: Bumblebirch Yarn + Tea!

I'm going to keep it simple this time around, just yarn and tea...all right maybe a couple of goodies, but it won't be a box of samples like others have perfected. You will be able to get a 3 month subscription or a single Yarn + Tea pairing, always fragrant and beautiful. The colorways will be a surprise and exclusive to the Yarn + Tea Club.

What colorway and tea flavors would you wish for in a Yarn + Tea pairing?

Bumblebirch is Back in Full Swing

Bumblebirch Wellspring in the vibrant Hydrangea colorway.

It's been a long time, friends. Yes, my break was somewhat longer than anticipated. I've been busy in the studio for months now, but haven't updated the blog in some time. A lot is going on around here:

Strange Bird shawl, knit in Bumblebirch Grove in Mineral, completed for the 2012 Ravellenic Games.

Bumblebirch Wellspring in Pacific.

Bumblebirch Wellspring in Glacier.

There's a still a lot of stuff behind the scenes, like a new website and new fall colorways.

Testing new colors. Sunkissed colorway in the middle.

All of the Bumblebirch yarns and colorways spread out on a counter.
New labels for the yarn.

Did I mention the new yarn? No?

Three of the new fall colorways: Snow, Mustard, and Embers.

This is Blossom, a merino + Suri alpaca blend in sport weight. A shawl or scarf made of Blossom would be toasty warm! Also returning for the cooler months is Forage, my worsted weight superwash merino yarn. It's so fluffy and squooshable and vibrant!

Piles of yarn, ready to go to Pearl Fiber Arts.
I'm back in full swing now! Please be sure to "like" Bumblebirch on Facebook to see more pictures and mini-updates.
